Well, as you may or may not have noticed, I've gone ahead and completely neglected this website for almost a full year! I'm good at doing stuff like that. That said, I have hope that the future holds a more steady, consistent update of this thing.
So moving forward...a new name means a new beginning, right? Right?!! Since I'm no longer a night owl (unless going to bed between 9-10pm qualifies for that, which...no) I've felt that maybe that name doesn't fully describe me anymore. So in search for a new name I've landed on what you see now, partially inspired by my French hubby and it has a nice ring to it, I think. New news? Well, baby on the way! (Hilariously that autocorrected to baby IN the way...not yet autocorrect, not until May). 2017 sure is going to be...interesting. I'll do my best to keep the website up-to-par. Goals for 2017 include actually starting a store on this here website, including sections for my knitted and crocheted wares, maybe taking my etsy and Amazon shops off vacation mode (maybe), and trying to do some more public exhibitions or shows. Oh, and having a baby. Kind of a big one there. Hope everyone has a safe and fun new year, see you in 2017! K

Ok so I didn't blog or update for a while. Let's not go into the specifics of how long I was gone or how much who missed who...I've been at it like a stealthy clay ninja. This week I bisque-fired a very full kiln leading to an intimidating shelf that looks like this: I guess the standard approach here is glaze as much as I can until dinner. (2 hours for today. I made crockpot wheat chili from Wheat Montana and feel pretty proud of myself in getting that done today.) The end goal here is to have the kiln fired this weekend and lots of new pots to show and sell the people. Stay tuned!
It's been all about big serving bowls for me lately. Slowly but surely I"m getting a good handle on shaping and what I would like them to look like. Of the latest firings I have three finished, here's photos of two out of three. Also included are some finished berry bowls (small colanders) and a vase.
I"ve been making yarnbowls for All Wound Up Yarn Shop in Edmonds, WA since June earlier this year. Today I"m taking another batch that will be for sale there. If you're in the neighborhood, they have a beautiful selection of yarn, many of which are locally made and exquisite! Here's photos of the ones from today's batch:
In the beginning years as a potter I would tell myself that when I was able to create teapots then I would feel like a real potter. I've had a few rounds at them now, with some wins and some not-so-wins. I just finished up some wins, so it's a good feeling. Of course, blah blah blah they aren't as beautiful in pictures as they are in real life blah blah...well, it's true in this case, for sure. A few sake sets. Really liking the black and white.
Alright alright! First blog post and I'm pretty excited to be here. Anyone else reading this, thanks for being here. I can tell that you're as excited about all this as I am. This website has been a long time coming. I think what finally pushed me to get this whole thing in motion was the installation of my first kiln, and now that I"ve used it a few times, I have some finished pieces that I can show off and feel the accomplishment of start-to-finish at my own house. That feels SOOOOO GOOOOOOD. So. Next step: Pictures. Here's some of the latest two firings, pretty pleased overall, and some of these will be available soon online....you know, when I get to it (probably this weekend). Here's a few new mugs: Spoonrests. Lots of em, and they are all so pretty. I try to make a couple of these every time I throw because they are always unique and individual, despite using the same glazing techniques, glass placement, placement in the kiln, etc etc. Chaos in the works, folks, and I love it. |
